£5.15 million donation to University of Leicester and Leicester’s Hospitals
"My greatest passion is supporting good causes and focusing my energy on improving others lives." - George Davies
George Davies is known for his passion and success in retail, creating some of the biggest fashion labels in the UK today. But out of all of his success, his most rewarding work and greatest passion is the work he does with his charity, George Davies Charitable Trust.
The latest project for the entrepreneur involves vascular care and poor leg circulation. A cause close to his heart, George has recently donated a very generous £5.15 million to the University of Leicester and Leicester’s Hospitals. His contribution, the largest made by an individual to the University, will help fight vascular disease and prevent limb amputations.
George's record-breaking sum will help fund the George Davies Chair of Vascular Surgery and create a cutting edge research program around patients who suffer from the disease. It will also establish the new Vascular Limb Salvage Clinic at Glenfield Hospital, an open access clinic for patients with bad circulation. This clinic is a one stop experience for patients, allowing medical professionals to identify and treat those who suffer from poor circulation quicker and provide them with the right treatment plan.
The University and the hospitals hope that these actions will help to reduce the number of amputations in the UK by a quarter.
